Biography

Dr. Anderson, started Phoenix Neurology and Sleep Medicine in 2006. He had a poor childhood growing up as a chicken and turkey farmer in Lancaster, California. He received his medical doctorate from Loma Linda University in 1994 and completed his neurology residency and sleep training at University of Alabama, Birmingham in 2003, serving as Chief Resident. He is board certified in Neurology, Sleep Medicine, and Bariatric Medicine.
He served the US Navy for 12 years as an Operational Flight Surgeon and later as a Neurologist and Sleep specialist. During his military service, he was awarded the highest peacetime medal, The Navy and Marine Corps Medal, for directing the rescue of survivors of the Korea Airlines 747 crash in Guam on August 6, 1997. He was also awarded the Navy Flight Surgeon of the Year award for his service above self-effort for rescuing the crew of capsized ship, The Gurnsey Express. This heroic rescue took place at midnight in the wake of 35 foot seas and 85 knot winds during Typhoon Dale.
Dr. Anderson started Phoenix Neurology and Sleep Medicine with the goal of delivering high quality patient care in a friendly and caring atmosphere. The practice has grown to 10 providers: 6 neurologists, 1 pediatric neurologist and 2 NPs. The practice has 4 clinics throughout the valley and several satellite offices in the rural areas of Arizona.
In 2007, he founded the non-profit Phoenix Health Foundation that provides scholarships/mentorship to pre-medical students, medical relief services, free community health events, and physician advocacy and integrity promotion.
He has been honored by his peers as Phoenix Magazine’s Top Doctor in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017. He was also awarded The Phoenix Business Journal’s Health Care Hero for Philanthropy in 2016, as well as the West Valley Top 24 Mover and Shaker in 2010. He was also awarded the Tin Man award by Arizona Rotarians for having a heart. He has directed and overseen over a dozen medical mission trips foreign and domestic.
Dr. Anderson is married to Heather Anderson, and has 3 children, Keoni, Brooklyn, and Blakely. He enjoys his time with God, tennis, skiing, and family time.
